Beer: 10&2 Bourbon Barrel Aged Barley Wine

Brewery: Fifty West Brewing Company

Description: This ale is an exploration in all directions. The flavors steer towards red licorice, oak, vanilla, and cherry notes derived from the barrel that it was aged in over the last year. Fasten up and enjoy the trip.

Beer: 2015 Olde GnarlyWine

Brewery: Lagunitas Brewing Co.

Description: Making a Mondo Ultra Mega Super premium Barley Wine is a little like having a kid. The first part is fun and messy, it takes a while to frement, and then a whole lot longer to mature. It is expensive and takes up a lot of space. You worry about how it will grow up and whether you'll still be friends. Eventually it stays out all night and comes home with its skirt on backwards. You know how it is.Usually we package our ales within 15 days of brewing. This one we age in the tanks for over a month. Why not buy three...Drink one now, keep one in the fridge for a month, and one for another year! Yummy...

Beer: Back Burner

Brewery: Southern Tier Brewing Company

Description: Last brewed by Southern Tier Brewing Company in 2012, Back Burner Barley Wine has returned for 2016 as the first brew of the year! This well-aging beer is back with luscious blackstrap molasses and maple syrup from a farm directly across the road from the brewery. In addition to these new ingredients, its purposeful grain bill includes 4 types of malts, which gives Back Burner flavors of brown sugar, raisins, molasses & caramel maltiness to balance its noticeable hop presence from 4 different varieties. Hop bitterness fades and flavors evolve over time, so Back Burner adds to the list of Southern Tier’s highly rated, cellar-able offerings. Our barley wine style ale is a tribute to days remembered and a celebration of things to come.

Beer: Old Jackalope Barleywine

Brewery: Tenaya Creek Brewery

Description: ‘Old Jackalope Barleywine Style Ale’, our bold representation of an American-Style Barleywine. Despite its name it is very much a beer, meaning ‘a beer as strong as wine’. Coming in at a generous 10.4% ABV, this beer is best served in a snifter or tulip glass and can age for months or even years! Every bottle has a hand written ‘release date’ for those that can resist the temptation and choose to let it age. The bottle tops have been waxed for visual appeal and aging, as it keeps oxygen out of the bottle. This complex and lively ale has been generously hopped to create a nice balance with the sweetness from the high volume of malts used to create this ‘mythical’ beer.
